About Break the Ice
What?
Break the Ice(BTI) is a non-profit organization that aims to give underserved children in the greater Houston area the chance to learn how to skate and create a feeling of inclusivity and belonging.
Who?
This organization is for elementary school children(1st-5th grades) who want to try ice skating but don't have the means to skate regularly.
BTI was founded by a high school skating instructor from Houston who wanted others to get into the growing sports of hockey and figure skating. After teaching for many years, he realized that the majority of skaters came from a certain financial background, and he wanted others to have the opportunity to experience the joy and passion of ice skating.
Community Involvement
At Break the Ice, we're committed to giving back to the skating community. We sponsor local skating events and donate a portion of our profits to organizations that support the growth and development of young skaters.
